When attempting to install alley business toolkit, you encountered an error message stating, “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”
Why this error? Why can’t you install Home Services Theme?
The error occurred because the downloaded zip file is not a theme file but rather a plugin file.
Theme installation process expects a theme file with the appropriate structure and components, including the essential style.css stylesheet. However, in this case, the downloaded file does not meet those requirements as it is intended for plugin installation rather than theme installation.
To resolve this issue, all you need to do is upload the downloaded .zip file of Alley Business Toolkit to Upload Plugin instead of Upload Theme.
Correct Installation of Alley toolkit .zip file
To install Alley Business Toolkit/Pro:
- From the admin dashboard, Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin
- Once you are in the upload window, Choose the downloaded .zip file and hit Install Now.
- The installation process will take a minute or two.
Once the installation is completed, a new window will open. Click on “Activate Plugin“. This will activate the pro plugin which is required to extend the theme functionality.
Upon successful installation you will redirected to Alley Toolkit Plugin Dashboard Page and Pro features such as promotion CPT, Testimonial CPT, Teams CPT are shown under the menu of Alley Toolkit.
